Lalitpur. April 2017-
On a warm Saturday on 1st April, Animal Nepal Equine outreach team reached Bajra Brick kiln at Aarubot, Lalitpur district to conduct an educational and awareness session for equine owners and equine handlers.
At the Bajra Brick kiln, there are 37 equines, with 24 enthusiastic handlers looking after these lovely equines.
Equine owners Genu,Isril and Rustam had come all the way from Nepalgunj.
Animal Nepal Communication Officer Nirmal Sharma briefed the owners and handlers regarding the educational/awareness programme and the benefits of the programme.
The participants were very interested. They realized that a healthy equine would be beneficial for everyone’s individual interest.
Dr.Atish Yadav, Co-ordinator of the Equine Outreach Programme, discussed about equine healthcare and basic treatment. He explained that by providing substantial food, drinking water, adequate rest time, and proper shelter would definitely result in better performance by the equines. He further explained all the methods in detail which were quite effective. The education/awareness programme was informative, educative and beneficial.
Equine owner Rustam explained that Animal Nepal’s support has always been consistent and continuous in the field of equine welfare. Everybody was relaxed as we enjoyed doing the programme in the mild sun outdoors on the grass. We found that the participants were responsive and equally enjoyed the awareness campaign. The team distributed Ludo kits to the equine handlers.
Animal Nepal team member Dr. Sajana Thapa, Para vets Tara Budhathoki,Santosh Gautam,Mana Nepali and assistant Ramchandra Shrestha were also present and talked about equine management and healthcare. We continue to help the working equines and the people who are working with the hard working equines.
